I am so proud of your efforts in the first week! Before your mind wanders to bunny rabbits and colorful eggs, we will be completing our first Photoshop and coding lessons. Did you bring in pictures related to the theme as preparation for our tutorials? How many, you ask? Stacks. Thousands. Whatever you can come up with. Put them on a flash drive, save them to your Google Drive, or deliver a hard copy to me for scanning. No excuses.
Anyone interested in this contest that may have some artistic talents? Money is good. 🙂
Kiss the last two trimesters goodbye as we are at the beginning of the end.
I am so excited to have you as a web design student. Let’s begin strong and make these final few months of the school year the best they can be.
We will be brainstorming website ideas all week!
ANSWER THESE IN ONE BLOG ENTRY, with labels #1-3. 5-7 sentences each, please.
- 1) JOURNAL: Past themes: Time Capsule, Genie in a Bottle, Survival, Ancestors, Repurposing, and Food.
- Rate them 1-6. Why is your top choice the best?
- 2) JOURNAL: Pick a theme for next year. What would it be? Explain what contestants would have to do (for their three middle pages). Why would it appeal to the mass audience?
- 3) JOURNAL FEEDBACK HELP: Check out your essay. Look at my feedback. What could you have added (or subtracted) to tighten it? WHY?
POSTTEST: Take Photoshop and Coding Quizizzes.
This past Saturday, I celebrated with two Lake Shore students at the National Center for Women in Information Technology’s Aspirations Conference held on the campus of Michigan State. As always, I am so lucky to share my love for computing with others.
The thing is, you are the reasons why I enjoy this class, school, and degree. You help me to be the best teacher I can be by sharing your dreams with me, displaying an extreme amount of effort, and allowing me in. Thank you.
Presentations are important in any profession. Preparation and confidence are two keys for your success. You know your website well. We have worked on it for roughly 11 weeks. Refer back to your essay script. Practice what you are going to say. Remember, don’t just say what we can see on the screen. Tell us about your thought processes. And believe that you can deliver this message effectively.
Presentation feedback is here. Self evaluation form is here.
Papers, essays..so in love with them. Right? We will discuss your final exam reflection essay. As I always say, this class is not about memorization. It is about application of the concepts. I want you to share your process, not which lessons were mastered.
The NETS are located here.
The due date for your final page is Monday! Take care of all four components and you should be all set. Remember, reflecting on your previous mistakes while making subtle adjustment for improvement will pay off.
We will begin and end this week with tables. Organizing information is important. Since we will be focusing on the specifics of how-to create and modify them to fit your needs, you will not have time to work on your last page’s content or finalize anything else. Keep this in mind as we gather brain cells that may have been missing from our break.
Pages 2, 3 are due on Thursday for Intro and Friday for Adv.
Your middle pages are due on Thursday, February 18. Change your last updated to reflect this. Does your multimedia look thoughtful and organized? Have you completed your “experience” and documented it through a slideshow and video?
We will be discussing our final page’s content this week. There’s a lot, but it should be pretty simple considering all of the work you have put into your site.
This will be an exciting week as we create multimedia pieces for your content on pages 2 and 3. This will include sharing your experience through images and video. Be sure to bring your thinking cap to class everyday as you will need it to figure out your plan of action for these middle pages.
Have you checked off your index requirements? Review those constantly! Remember, the marking period ends on Friday. Are your grades where you want them to be?
Intro: Due 1/25 (beginning of class)
Adv: Due 1/26 (middle of class)
Community Bus Adv: Due 1/28 (end of class)
Please remember that Parent/Teacher Conferences take place this week and I would love to meet your mom or dad. Have them sign up for a time slot.
